PROSTRENGTH® Extra Strength Concrete Mix (aka PRO-50) by Cement Australia is engineered to deliver an exceptional 50MPa strength—twice that of a standard concrete mix—making it the ideal choice for demanding projects where durability and confidence are paramount. This TMR-approved product (MRTS14) is perfect for frangible support posts and offers faster strength gain for early use. Proudly made in Australia, it ensures superior performance for both professional and home applications.
Applications
- Clotheslines
- Concrete repairs
- Landscaping
- Uprights
- Posts (Retaining Walls)
Key Features
- Extra strength: Achieves 50MPa, twice the strength of standard concrete mixes
- Faster strength gain: Ready for drilling or walking on within 24 hours
- Enhanced durability: Greater resistance to wear and reduced permeability
- Smoother finish: Provides a refined surface for a professional look
- TMR approved: Meets MRTS14 standards for bagged concrete (frangible support posts)
How to Use
Step 1: Mix the Concrete
- Using a Concrete Mixer: Add 2 liters of clean water per 20kg bag of PROSTRENGTH® Extra Strength Concrete Mix to the mixing vessel. Slowly pour in the mix and blend thoroughly. For extra workability, add up to 0.5 liters more water if needed.
-
Using a Wheelbarrow: Place the mix in the wheelbarrow, create a hollow in the center, and add 2 liters of water per bag. Mix well. Add up to 0.5 liters more water for workability if required.
Note: Too much water weakens the concrete—use sparingly.
Step 2: Place and Cure
- Pour the well-mixed concrete into the formwork, filling all corners, and compact it. Level the surface with a straight edge and finish with a wooden float or steel trowel. Keep the surface moist for 7 days to maximize strength. Formwork can be removed after 24 hours. Avoid walking on the concrete for at least 24 hours after placement.
Notes
- Strength disclaimer: The 50MPa compressive strength and early strength development data were achieved under controlled laboratory conditions at 23°C. Actual results may vary due to factors like temperature, water content, and site conditions.
Limitations
- Water control: Excess water reduces strength and durability—stick to recommended amounts.
- Early use: While strong enough for light traffic after 24 hours, allow full curing for maximum performance.
