How to use Concrete Mix
When filling the formwork, make sure all corners are filled with well mixed concrete and compacted. Then, use a straight edge to level the concrete and finish the top surface with a wooden float or steel trowel. For optimal strength, keep the surface moist for 7 days. The formwork can be removed after 24 hours, but do not walk on the concrete for at least 3 days after placing.
How to mix Cement Australia Concrete Mix
When using a concrete mixer, slowly pour the Concrete Mix blend into the mixing vessel with the recommended 1.75 litres of clean water per bag. Mix the water and mix thoroughly. Only add additional water in small increments of ~100ml if necessary to achieve a workable mix. Be careful not to add too much water, as this can ruin the quality of the concrete.
If you're using a wheelbarrow, simply place the Concrete Mix inside and create a hollow. Add 1.75 litres of water per bag and mix. If you need to, you can slowly add small amounts of water (around 100ml at a time) until you have a workable mix. Just be careful not to add too much water, as it can ruin good concrete.
Tip: The concrete should not be too hard or too wet. When squeezed with a gloved hand, it should hold its shape.
Concrete Mix Limitations:
- If considering using Concrete Mix with aluminium posts or poles, Cement Australia recommends you confirm the suitability of this with the aluminium manufacturer/supplier prior to use.
- Set times are affected by (extreme) temperatures. Avoid mixing and placing concrete at below 5°C or above 35°C.
- Too much water ruins good concrete.
