Trade Mortar - 20kg is a pre-blended mortar mix that meets Australian Standards AS3700 for M4 bricklaying. It is ideal for bricklaying, masonry, stonework, and other general mortar uses, providing quality and assurance.
Trade Mortar Applications:
- Brickwork Repairs
- Fittings
- Pipework
- Mortar (Brick Walls)
Trade Mortar Key Features:
- Use within one (1) hour.
- 20kg Bag covers approximately 20 house bricks or 10 masonry blocks (10mm mortar joint)
- Just add water
- Consistent performance, strength and colour
- Consistent quality of cement, sand and additives, in the correct proportioning from batch to batch (conforms to AS3700)
- Eliminating quality control concerns from contamination of sand on site and raw material variability
- No batching errors by the labourer, decreasing reliance on on-site mortar preparation and eliminating rectification costs of out-of-spec mortar
- Eliminating varying moisture levels in loam which could cause colour variation
How to use Trade Mortar
To prepare the Trade Mortar, follow the instructions on the bag and mix it with clean water in a mixing vessel. Take care to only add the minimum amount of water needed for a workable consistency, as using too much can compromise the strength of the mortar.
OR
When using a wheelbarrow, you can evenly mix the required amount of Trade Mortar by creating a "well" in the center of the powder and adding clean water according to the instructions on the bag. Be sure to thoroughly mix the ingredients for a consistent blend.
Utilize a trowel to apply the mix. Wait for the Trade Mortar to stiffen and dry to the touch before attempting to rake or finish the mortar joints.
Trade Mortar Limitations:
-
Do not allow the mixed mortar to stand for an extended period of time, as re-tempering the mix with additional water will weaken the mortar.
