Pre-Grout Sealer/Grout Release
Porous tile and stone can be stained by grout during installation. Sealing the tile before grouting makes grout removal significantly easier.
- Apply a single coat of sealer according to the directions after the tile has been bonded for at least 24 hours.
- Alternatively, apply the sealer to the front face of the tile before installation.
- Wait a minimum of 48 hours before grouting to ensure proper sealing and curing.
IMPORTANT: Enhancing sealers should not be applied over a previously sealed surface. This includes surfaces pre-sealed with Aqua Mix® ProBlock or any other pre-sealer, as well as surfaces treated with Aqua Mix® Grout Release.
Pre-sealers and grout release products can cause enhancing sealers to highlight the stone unevenly, resulting in a patchy appearance. Ensure no prior treatments remain on the surface before applying Stone Enhancer.
Preparation:
- Ensure surfaces are dry, clean, and free of waxes, sealers, or finishes.
- Allow new installations to dry for at least 48 hours before application.
- Protect surrounding surfaces to avoid accidental contact.
- Test in an inconspicuous area to confirm desired results.
- Ensure the stone, tile, or grout is completely dry before applying.
Stone Enhancer Application Instructions
- Apply the sealer using a sponge, brush, paint pad, or cotton towel.
- Avoid overlapping applications and apply from bottom to top for vertical surfaces.
- Wipe away excess sealer within 5 minutes using clean, absorbent towels.
- If applying multiple coats, allow at least 30 minutes of drying time between coats.
- Ensure no sheen or gloss remains; buff surfaces dry after application.
Drying Times
- Allow 30 minutes of drying time between coats at 20°C (70°F) and 70% relative humidity.
- Extend drying time if temperatures are lower or humidity is higher.
- Ready for foot traffic within 2 hours.
- Keep surfaces dry for at least 12 hours.
- Achieves full cure in a minimum of 48 hours.
